World Hunger
All around the world, people face the problem of not getting to eat enough every day. Hunger does not just happen to people in complete poverty, it can also come from having not enough money to pay for enough food and other things such as bills. This is why hunger is such a huge problem. It forces people to focus on getting enough food,
instead of them using that time to make their lives better.
Hunger also has an extreme effect on your body, both directly and indirectly. The reason we eat is so our body can break down that food into energy. When we run out of food, our body no longer has a source of energy and literally starts eating itself. However, even if you don’t run out of food completely, hunger forces us to choose less healthy options, usually because we want to save money. For example, a $1 burger costs less than a $10 salad, but it has a more negative effect on our body over time.
Food is extremely important for our bodies, and without access to it, our body gets worse and worse until death. The human body can only survive 3 weeks without food, and that’s with a healthy body. Being sick/having a disease, being malnourished, or having other problems which make the body weak may speed up the hunger process. Plus, during a starvation period, your body is not just fine until it suddenly dies of hunger. There are many side effects such as pain, dizziness, weakness and more. Hunger may also have emotional effects, such as anger and stress(One state of this is known as being “hangry”, when your anger is only inflamed by your hunger.)
Unfortunately, there are millions of people around the world who face hunger, and go through these exact problems. These people have to spend the day getting their next meal, instead of having the freedom to enjoy other things. This is a huge problem, and quite a sad one.
